In this necklace I captured one of Spring's most dainty wildfowers, a real Wood Anemone.
My process starts with collecting and preserving wildflowers gathered from Flanders wild meadows. Everything is pressed and dried to retain its natural colours and details in the best way possible.
The flower was carefully casted in a high quality circle shaped frame. The resin protects the flower from aging and has a glossy finish. The piece is finished with tiny pieces of hand cut goldleaf inspired by the sunlight peeking through the elegant petals.
The Romans considered wood anemones to be lucky charms and would pick the first blooming flowers each year to help ward off fever. Up until recent times, people would say “I gather this against all diseases” and then wear it as a lucky charm.
